Well, the day has finally arrived … time to post my very first post on my very own blog … exciting and scary all at the same time. I have thought about starting a blog for several years (yes, years) but let the “fear factor” stop me. Blogging after all is a personal commitment to your readers (even if there are only a few of them) that you will provide interesting content, as well as a certain frequency of new posts. What if I ran out of things to say? Or my content wasn’t interesting?

In the meantime, I got my feet wet (so to speak) as a guest blogger on the Rochester American Marketing Association blog (thanks to Yvonne DiVita of Lipsticking fame) and became active with other social media tools like Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and LinkedIn.

Well, I have decided there is no real “right” time to start a blog … and since social media is a core part of my life these days (both personally and professionally), I decided to just jump in and do this. Of course, I had lots of encouragement from friends (you know who you are) as well as creative ideas, help and technical support from Pixelpunk Creative (who rocks!).

In the words of the immortal Mario of Super Mario Bros.^TM fame: “Here we go …”

So welcome, my very first readers, whoever you are … I am glad you are here. What I hope to provide you with is interesting content (and opinions) on all types of marketing and marketing-related topics. You will occasionally also find random posts about things the I love (like pets, especially dogs), my local area (Rochester, NY), or other things that catch my interest (like the latest movie premiere). But I will mostly stick to marketing, as I think that is probably why you are here (the name of my blog is “Marketing by Kat” after all).

And please feel free to introduce yourself … after all, social media is about conversations and connections, not about monologues. I enjoy hearing other opinions, or getting new information, or even receiving feedback on my blog/my posts (be gentle please).
